Theme: “New Pedagogy for Tertiary Education: A Paradigm for Quality”


The theme for CANQATE 2008 -- New Pedagogy for Tertiary Education: A Paradigm for Quality -- is designed to promote the exchange of best-thinking and best-practice aligned with teaching and learning, both within and beyond the classroom walls.  The 2008 conference strands were built upon the notion that traditional classes and distance-based teaching and learning must have a quality focus.


The Strands for the Theme are:

·          Quality Practices & Policies in Instructional System Design

·          Learner Empowerment

·          The E-Library

·          Training & Development

·          Achieving Competitive Advantage in Education

·          Innovation in Assessment

·          Quality Assurance: Accreditation Issues

·          Gender Imbalance in Tertiary Institutions

·          Ethical Issues in Tertiary Education

 

Submission and Schedule for Proposals and Presentations:

Participants presenters must submit a 300 word abstracts in Word format along with a two page explanation of the topic, identifying the strand selected. Submission should include the title of the paper along with the name(s), affilations, and complete mailing addresses of all authors as well as email, fax and phone number(s) and full papers to Dr. Trescot Wilson at twilson@college.bm by the dates indicated below.


 

 
Abstracts (no more than 300 words) are due   May 28, 2008
Notification of abstract acceptance
June 28, 2008
Final papers are dueSeptember 19, 2008

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

TUESDAY, November 4, 2008.

 

Topic: "Gender Imbalance in Tertiary Institutions"

 

 

The pre-conference offers a unique opportunity for attendees to participate in a roundtable session that addresses Gender Imbalance in Tertiary Education. This hands-on session will be facilitated by noted experts who have focused their research on the chronic shortage of males in tertiary institutions.   Participants will leave the session with strategies that they will be able to implement at their home institutions.
