Welcome to the new official website of the Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (CANQATE)!

First, CANQATE wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to the GIQAC/World Bank for providing the financial assistance which was vital to the achievement of this project and to Espirit Consultants, the web developers for making this dream a realization within the anticipated timeframe.

Secondly, CANQATE wishes to acknowledge the visionary leadership and commitment of Dr. Ethley London, the first President and Executive Director of the University Council of Jamaica for nurturing this young organization over the past four and half years.

It was in 2002 at the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) Forum held in Montego Bay, Jamaica that CANQATE was launched as a sub-network of the INQAAHE with aims and objectives that are compatible with INQAHHE. CANQATE”s principal purpose is to “enable members to share information about the maintenance, evaluation, accreditation and improvement of higher education and to disseminate good practices in the field of Quality Assurance”.  On behalf of CANQATE, I wish to extend profound thanks to Dr. London and to former Boards of Management for their dedication and valuable contribution to the development and growth of the Network.

In closing, the current Board of Management anticipates that the new website will serve as an impetus for improved communication and continuous learning throughout the Network and we therefore look forward to the feedback on the website from the membership and other users. Let us continue our commitment to this vibrant organization as we seek to promote capacity building within the region, encourage continuous research and development, disseminate best practices on quality assurance and quality enhancement and increase our membership amongst other key strategic objectives.
