PROPOSED STRATEGIC GOALS 2009-2012

Themes:

  1. Increasing Membership Development
  2. Improving Stakeholder Relations and Support
  3. Managing Organizational Sustainability
  4. Building Capacity and a Quality Culture in Regional Tertiary Education

 

Theme 1:  Increasing Membership Development

Goal 1:

Increase and sustain membership growth through:

  1. The Establishment of vibrant  operational Country Core Groups; and
  2. The Imaging and promotion of the organization to relevant professional, educational and other bodies

 

Theme 2: Improving Stakeholder Relations and Support

Goal 2

Secure support from regional and other stakeholders by:

  1. Meeting with government officials in different territories
  2. Inviting Heads of Governments, Ministers and their advisors, heads of professional bodies and other influential leaders to present papers, keynote addresses etc. at the Annual Conferences; and
  3. Securing observer status for attendance meetings of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) – CARICOM and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)

 

Theme 3: Managing Organizational Sustainability

Goal 3:   

Pursue avenues to secure CANQATE’s financial viability and sustainability by:   

  1. Seeking funding from potential sources such as government, international and private sector donors;
  2. Providing on-line advertising for sponsors and others through CANQATE’s web portal; and
  3. Charging fees for membership, conferences, workshops and other for  other services.

 

Goal 4:   

Establish an Effective and Efficient Secretariat by:

  1. Endeavoring to build a financially sustainable Secretariat with the operational systems to facilitate effective management and continuous improvement that is representative of a centre of excellence;
  2. Improving our technological systems for outreach to the membership, including support to all Country Core Groups in the region.

 

Theme 4: Building Capacity and a Quality Culture in Regional Tertiary Education

Goal 5:  

Facilitate commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) – Institutions and Agencies by:

  1. Promoting a Quality Culture which embraces the principles of CQI;
  2. Enabling training and development for professionals in CQI; and
  3. Recognizing “best practices” in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE).

 

Goal 6:  

Be a Centre for Research and Development:

  1. Encouraging research and development of policies and practices in QA and QE within the region; and
  2. Seeking opportunities to provide region-wide consultancies to improve the policies and practices in all areas relevant to CANQATE’s mission.
  3. Disseminating valuable research materials on policies and practices in QA and QE within the tertiary education sector to stakeholders regionally and extra-regionally.

Announcing the Scholarship Winners for 2011

INQAAHE Conference – April, 2011

Six (6) scholarships were initially offered, however, only four (4) were taken up. The recipients were:

  • Dr. Ruby Alleyne – University of Trinidad and Tobago
  • Mr. Mervyn Extavour – Cipriani College, Trinidad and Tobago
  • Dr. Angela Penny – University Council of Jamaica
  • Dr. Louis Whittington – University of the West Indies, Open Campus, Barbados
 
CANQATE Conference – October, 2011
 
Ten (10) scholarships were awarded as follows:

  • Ms. Monica Dempster – Church Teachers’ College, Jamaica

  • Mr. Michael Porter – National Accreditation Council of Guyana
  • Mr. Michael Theodore – affiliated through the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT)
